Quality Time

My sister has been visiting with me for about a week now and she's going home in a few days. It's been really fun catching up with her and reminiscing about our pasts. It's pretty nostalgic to have just a small taste of my old life, the good old days when I lived at home with my sister and parents. I'm happy that we've had any time together at all but unfortunately, it's not nearly enough time to get everything that I want done.

But hey, quality time is quality time, no matter how long.

Inspiration

Recently, I've been very frustrated with myself. I've been trying to do more writing and every day when I sit down to write, I can't think of anything that's good enough. It's like I've got perpetual writers' block or something. I've tried everything that I could think of to inspire me but I'm still drawing blanks.

And it's becoming more frustrating every day.

I'm someone that loves to write. I always have been, always will be. So it's very odd for me not to have some sort of project to work on right now. Every day that I go without writing makes me feel empty. Writing is a part of me that makes me feel whole. It's more than just a hobby; it's my life.

So I started thinking about why I love writing and what I want my writing to do. I want to inspire people. I want people to read my stories and feel something. I want to make an impact in someone's life. I just finished re-reading The Fault in Our Stars and I started thinking about how many people that book has affected. Thousands of people across the globe love that story and it touches them in ways that can't be described. That's exactly what I'm working to achieve. One day, I want my own stories to impact people in that way. That's the beauty of writing. People take things away from stories and everyone gets something different out of those stories.

Re-reading The Fault in Our Stars accomplished exactly what I had hoped that it would. It inspired me. I remembered exactly what I wanted my writing to accomplish. I remembered why I do what I do. I want people to connect with my stories and to have positive influences in their lives, just as John Green has for so many people.

I've often heard that reading a lot is one of the best ways to become a better writer. Now I know why.

New Facts!

I haven't been blogging much lately and I'm really kicking myself about that. I've been really busy but I have tried to make time for it. I even started a few posts but deleted them because they weren't any good. In my recent posts, I've been talking about what's going on in my life as I get my new apartment ready and raise my dog, Jax. But I haven't talked very much about me or my personality, so I figured that now would be a good time to share a little bit more about myself.

1. I used to act in plays and it's something that I miss very much. I've never had any desire to be a famous actress or anything but I enjoy performing. I'd like to get back into it one day soon.

2. Jasmine is my favorite Disney princess. Always has been, always will be. :)

3. I'm allergic to cats. It's okay though. I prefer dogs anyway.

4. I'm not a very patient person but it's something that I'm trying to work on.

5. I have recently fallen in love with contemporary novels. I used to read only adult novels but I've found YA Contemporary is probably my new favorite genre.

6. I love Last Man Standing. Kris and I found it on Netflix and have been binge-watching the first 2 seasons. It's one of funniest shows that I've ever watched.

7. My favorite song is I Want Crazy by Hunter Hayes. It used to be Forever Yours by Alex Day but that song has been replaced.

Since 7 is my lucky number, I'm just going to go ahead and stop after 7 facts.

Have a great day, everyone!
