My Plausible Resolutions

There seems to be a stigma with New Years Resolutions because many people that I know complain that people give up on them by February. Whether or not this is true, I can't say because I typically don't make resolutions. It's not because I think I'm perfect or anything, in fact I'm far from it. It's because I've never been able to think of one that wasn't stereotypical and that everyone else wasn't doing. So I just didn't make them.

However, resolutions do scare me a bit because I'm afraid that if I do make one, that if I fail, I'll feel extremely guilty. So I've decided that if I'm going to do them, I'm not going to overestimate myself; I'm going to make them plausible. And if I write them down on the internet, it will be my motivation to keep them going! :)

1. Blog more- I started this blog in April of this year and I have tried to dedicate a certain amount of my time to it because blogging takes work. However, my blog isn't on a schedule. I don't plan my posts; I do them spontaneously about whatever happens to inspire me at the time. But I think that if I did plan my posts more and have a routine down, that it will improve my blog's quality. I'm going to try to blog more and when I do blog, I'm going to try to pre-plan.

2. Write more- I have been going through multiple plots and story-lines, trying to figure out which of my ideas will be my next novel. But I only used to write when inspiration found me and if I relied on that, I would go for weeks without writing. And that's not productive. So I'm going to try to focus more on my novels and I'm definitely looking forward to this resolution! I can't wait to see what I come up with!

3. Read more- I read a lot already but when you're a writer, it's definitely beneficial. You get inspired, you learn from writers with different ideas and perspectives than you and it helps grow your imagination. I love to get lost in books. I prefer books to TV, video games and social media. This one is definitely plausible. I have a reading challenge on goodreads.com and I'm ready to tackle it! Wish me luck; I hope that I can finish it!

I'm going to need tons of distractions while Kris is gone and I definitely think that these resolutions will help get me through it!

What are your resolutions?

See you all next year!

A Whirlwind Week

It's been an entire week since I've posted a blog and it honestly feels really weird to say that. I'm used to posting at least 3 times a week but this past week and a half has been so jam-packed with stuff to do while Kris is home. I've been trying to soak up every second that I can with him and haven't had time to do much else, especially blogging.

But while he is doing his daily workout and I'm preparing for our New Year's Eve plans, I thought that I'd sneak in a quick update!

           We've been:

  • Going to the movies to see Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks. Both were spectacular!
  • Shopping! We both got tons of gift cards for Christmas and I've spent most of mine at Barnes and Noble!
  • Going out to dinner! When you haven't had an actual date with your husband for 7 months, you forget how good it feels! We've done it a few times since he's been home and it feels just like it did when we first started dating! That spark is still very much alive!
  • Spending time with our families! His family has missed him terribly and so has mine, so I've had to do some sharing! But I don't mind because he missed them a lot too and it's wonderful to be together!
  • Enjoying each other's company! It's nice to just sit around with some hot cocoa and talk, knowing that it's these little moments that matter most.
  • Couples photos! We actually just got back from the photo-shoot at the park! My sister is an aspiring photographer and I've been dying to get these photos done for months! It was a great feeling crossing this off of our to-do list! And I must say, they turned out amazing!
  • Getting tattoos! Kris got his second tattoo on Saturday! A family friend of ours owns a tattoo shop and he did Kris' first tattoo, so we went back to him for this one. And even though I have no interest in tattoos, I must say that Kris' is really bad-ass.
So as you can see, we've been up to a lot this past week and a half! I can't believe that our limited time together is almost over! It's been flying by so fast! But tomorrow we will be busy again, taking his little sister to the zoo and then having a romantic night out!

I hope that you all have a safe and happy new year!

Frozen

Today has been a very busy day for Kristopher and I. I must say, I am thoroughly enjoying every second with him; it's just like before he left for the army. That familiar feeling is amazing and I wish that it would last forever.

Today we went to visit a friend of ours that works at Friendlies and get Kris' favorite sandwich. Annie, our friend, was very excited to see him and Kris immensely enjoyed seeing her and finally getting his sandwich. We had some time to kill before the movie, so we went to Target and did some shopping just because.

Finally, after a month of waiting, we finally got to see Frozen! And I must say, IT WAS AMAZING! The characters were hilarious, the story was brilliant and the soundtrack was spectacular! Well done, Disney. Well done.

Next on the list is Saving Mr. Banks!

But we also did some last-minute gift wrapping and baking today, so it was pretty full. We're both exhausted but I cannot explain how great it feels to actually go on dates with my man again!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

5 Things That 2013 Taught Me

To say that 2013 was an eventful year for me would be a colossal understatement. 2013 showed me that a lot can happen in just one short year but it also taught me a lot.

1. Do what makes you happy- This year, I got a second chance at life and I did not let it go to waste. For once in my life, I focused on what I wanted and what made me happy and I am reaping some wonderful results. Like this blog, for instance.

2. Do things at your own time- Tons of people criticize me for getting married at 20 but it's none of their business. They tell me that I'm too young, too inexperienced and too naive to ever understand the complexity of marriage. I disagree. I got married at 20, to a soldier, realizing that I could be a widow at 21. It was my time and my decision and it felt right to me. Just because other people waited doesn't mean that I'm wrong for doing this and I will never regret my decision. Ever.

3. Be patient- Being separated from Kristopher (and still being separated) has been the hardest thing that I've ever done; it's literally agonizing. And I've always been an impatient person. But he's been gone for 7 months and he'll be home soon. And I would do it all over again because he has found where he belongs and he's so happy. So I've had to just know that this is my life and patiently wait for him every day. And when I finally get those kisses that I've been waiting for, they'll be that much sweeter.

4. Integrity is important- I've always been a very loyal and honest person. When I give you my word, it means something. Actually, scratch that; it means everything. But I've caught so many people in so many huge lies and they have now lost my trust. When you lose my trust, it's almost impossible to get it back. Promises are promises and it hurts when they're broken. So I've really learned just how important integrity is to me.

5. Family is everything- At the end of the day, they are the ones who are going to be holding you while you cry, supporting you during tough times and being your cheerleaders when you succeed. My family has been my rock for this entire 7 month journey and of course, all of the years before that. They have been counting down the days with me and not allowing me to be negative during this process. I feel so much stronger because of them.

What did 2013 teach you?

An Update

With all of the craziness that's been going on, blogging has kind of fallen to the back-burner, unfortunately. So I thought that I'd just quickly fill you guys in on everything that I've been doing!

  • Cleaning! Getting ready for Kris' homecoming includes trying to make the apartment look as immaculate as possible! So every day, I've been scrubbing the place down like crazy! You can never be too clean!
  • Shopping! I helped my sister pick out and buy the gifts that she needed to get and I got another present for Kris, unexpectedly. I saw it and knew that he just had to have it!
  • Writing! I do my best writing late at night, so I've been quite a night owl recently, trying to work on a new story. So far, so good!
  • Planning surprises! What is a homecoming without a few surprises, right? But trying to coordinate them all is really hard work! Oh, well! He's worth it!
So now it's back to my busy schedule! Happy Monday!

What I've Learned This Week: Week 13

This has been a busy week for me, getting ready, not only for Christmas but for Kris' homecoming! It's very soon and I can't wait for him to be back! But I want everything to be perfect, so I'm going to continue to be a very busy bee until he gets home!

I've been slacking a bit on blogging because of finals and everything else and I'm sorry about that! But I bring you week 13 of What I've Learned This Week!

I LEARNED THAT...

1. ... making/Sending out Christmas cards is really fun!

2. ... some things are worth splurging some money on.

3. ... sometimes you have to take things one day at a time and it gets better.

4. ... writer's block can be beaten!

5. ... dreams change but that can be a good thing.

That's it for this week! I got tons more to do, so I apologize for the lack of blogging over the next few days!

We Could Be Best Friends

I got this post idea from Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird. I loved hers and found that we actually have quite a bit in common. So it inspired me to write one of my own. Who knows, maybe you'll find that we have some stuff in common?

      We Could Be Best Friends:

  • If you'd rather go to the library than the club
  • If you'd rather have a cup of coffee with a book instead of a Saturday night out
  • If you'd rather watch classic Disney movies than watch anything else
  • If you love shopping at Papaya

  • If you refuse to pay full price for anything
  • If manicures are your relaxation

  • If the use of improper grammar is your biggest pet peeve
  • If you love dogs as much as you love people

  • You've been to Disney World more times than you can count
  • You are addicted to wedding shows on TV

Do we have anything in common? Could we possibly be friends?

The Christmas Tag!

As I've stated before, I love tags! I don't know what it is about them, I just love them! I am so excited for Christmas this year, more so than usual! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas every year but there are so many wonderful things going on during this holiday season that I can't help but jump for joy!

So, while I'm giddy with excitement for Christmas, I thought I'd do The Christmas Tag! (If you're reading this, consider yourself tagged!)

1. Whats your favorite holiday movie? The Year Without a Santa Claus!

2. What are your favorite Christmas colors? Red and silver!

3. Do you like to stay in your pjs or dress up for Christmas? I would LOVE to stay in my pjs but I do
dress up every holiday!

4. If you could only buy one person a present this year who would it be? Oh, that's so tough! But I'd
have to say Kris because I haven't seen him in months!

5. Do you open your presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
On my dad's side, we open them on Christmas Eve but on my mom's side, we open them on Christmas!

6. Have you ever built a gingerbread house? No, I don't care for gingerbread.

7. What do you like to do on your Christmas break? Sleep, watch Christmas movies, wrap presents
and make cookies and hot cocoa!

8. Any Christmas wishes? Since this is my last Christmas while living in this house, I just want it to be a fun
time with my family. That's all I can ask for!

9. Favorite Christmas smell? The smell of my mom's turkey dinner!

10. Favorite Christmas meal or treat? Well, every year I make Banana Split Pie, which I personally love and then of course, I love every part of the meal!

If you participate in the tag, leave a link so that I can read yours, too!
