What I've Learned This Week: Week 6

This week has been absolutely crazy but I'm still learning something new every day!

THIS WEEK I LEARNED THAT...

1. ... blood really is thicker than water.

2. ... asking for help doesn't make you weak; it actually makes you strong.

3. ... sometimes we can make really great friends in really strange ways.

4. ... some things that we don't appreciate at first, end up meaning the most to us.

5. ... family always comes first no matter what and my family's bonds are stronger than I ever could've known.

Which State Am I?

I was perusing on A CUP OF JO tonight and was intrigued to find out that she had found and taken a quiz which matched her personality to the state that she should live in. So I thought that it would be fun to take the quiz myself.

(Drum roll please!) I got... New Mexico!

Wow, I definitely didn't see that coming but hey, why not!? I've never been there but I'm sure that it's fantastic if it's full of people that I'd fit in with! I have always known that I didn't belong in my home state and I could definitely get used to a view like that. The quiz's map key says that it's relaxed and creative, which sounds absolutely lovely and perfect for me!

Thank you Jo, for helping me find this quiz and I encourage all of you guys to check out her blog (link above) and take the quiz yourself here.

If you do decide to take the test, please tell me or Jo your results, as we'd definitely love to hear them!

Why I Write

I've mentioned before that I am addicted to writing and I always have been. But most people I know and converse with don't like to write. The fact that they don't enjoy my favorite hobby has always mind-boggled me a little bit because I love it so much. But then again, they don't understand how I can love something that they hate so much.

So then they always proceed to ask me things like, "Why bother? Why do you write? Nobody likes reading anymore, so why do it?" I always shake my head and silently laugh at their ignorance. People do enjoy reading and writing. If they didn't, there wouldn't be things like movies, television shows or best-selling books.

But what really gets me is that because they don't understand why I like my hobby, they immediately try to put me down. I would never look at an athlete and say, "Because (insert name of sport here) isn't as popular as football, the sport you like is stupid." People like different things and that's okay, in fact, it's preferred. Variety is what makes us different and special.

So, to answer their ignorant questions, I write because I don't know what I'd do if I didn't or couldn't. I love that something that exists only in my head becomes scratches on a piece of loose leaf paper or a typed story on a computer screen. I make my thoughts come to life on paper and make characters existed only in my imagination come alive. I write because it makes me happy. I write because it makes others happy. I write because I have a voice and I choose to use it. I write because I can. I write because I need to; it's my livelihood. I write because the pen is mightier than the sword. I write because I can use it to make a difference in this world. I write because I know that it's what I was put on this Earth to do.

So the moral of the story is that I love to write and even if other people don't, that's okay. We don't have to have the same hobbies. Go play soccer, go paint, go play musical instruments; do whatever makes you happy and I'll do the same. I won't question it or why you chose it and I expect the same courtesy from others. Respect goes a long way and it's a two-way street.

But to everybody that has been asking, this is why I write.

Pumpkin Patch!

The family and I decided to head down to the pumpkin patch at our local church! It was such a lovely way to spend the night!

I'm not pretending to be a photographer but I did my best. :)

A selfie was necessary. :)

Kelly, the actual photographer.

The church is just so beautiful.

Maybe I'll go. :)

These are a couple of the photos that Mom took.

Shopping Day With Lance & Kelly!

Kris told me to go out and spoil myself today, so I took Lance and Kelly out for a day of fun!

Getting lunch at Friendly's  before we drove to pick up Lance!

At Styles For Less, Kelly's favorite store! I am loving teal lately!

Lance was really tired, so we stopped to get some necessary caffeine!

Charming Charlie, my personal heaven! I could stay in here for hours!

Got this GORGEOUS leopard print dress at Papaya.

We went to visit Grandma Stella today and Coal really took a liking to Lance.

Aww, they're so cute!

We had a such a great day! I took way more pictures than this but they all came out bad. :(

        Oh well.

    Have an amazing weekend!
