June Reading List

June was a pretty decent reading month for me. I've been really busy trying to get my apartment in order and it's taken away from my reading time. Nonetheless, I managed to finish 10 books!

1. Last Sacrifice- I finally finished this series!

2. Second Chance Summer

3. The Battle of the Labyrinth

4. The Archived- This was a book that was on my TBR pile for months. I was so happy to finally cross it off my list and read it!

5. The Last Olympian

6. Dearly, Departed

7. All the Truth That's in Me

8. Bloodlines

9. The New Birth Order Book: Why You Are the Way You Are- This is something that I've wanted to read for a while. I think that it's a very interesting topic and I'd definitely recommend this.

10. The One

Currently (6)

I've been very busy recently and haven't had much time for blogging, unfortunately. But I managed to set aside a few minutes to share what I've been up to!

  • Reading: I just bought The Summer I Turned Pretty Trilogy, so I'll be reading that next!
  • Watching: Once Upon a Time! I just got a Netflix subscription and I've been binge-watching ever since!
  • Feeling: Excited that our apartment is finally coming together!
  • Excited for: The 4th of July!
  • Loving: My life with Kris and Jax!
  • Writing: I've been trying to work on a story but I've got terrible writer's block! But I hope that I have a breakthrough soon!
I hope that you all are having a wonderful weekend!

Starting Over

One of the hardest parts of wanting a creative career is the constant pressure to come up with new ideas. And sometimes when you do come up with new ideas, they don't work out and you have to start back at Square 1. I've been plowing through tons of ideas lately and although I've given them my best shot, none of them have worked out.

It can be very discouraging and there are some days that the disappointment feels like it's a little too much to handle. But if it was easy, then everyone would do it. I tell myself that if I do stick it out and I keep trying that it'll end up working out. Being a published author is all that I've ever wanted but it's a lot of hard work. Writing a book is harder than I ever would've thought.

I started working on a new project about 3 days ago. It's hard to tell if an idea is going to work out in the beginning but so far, I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'm trying something new and branching outside of my comfort zone. I hope that it ends up paying off but if it doesn't, that just means that I'm one step closer to achieving my dream. Every bad idea that doesn't work out brings me closer to an idea that will. And I'm confident enough in my imagination and determination to keep trying no matter what. That's what life is all about, isn't it? Chasing your dreams no matter how difficult they are?

So even though I'm starting over for about the 100th time, I wouldn't have it any other way. I love what I do and I am going to work hard for the rest of my life to make sure that my dreams do end up coming true.

Getting Out

I've always been the type of person that stayed at home instead of going out. Most of the time. It's not that I don't like going out, I just enjoy quiet time alone. But when Kris and I moved away, I decided that I was going to get out of the house and experience life.

Since we've moved here, I've done just that. I met this woman named Kimberly who is an extrovert. She is constantly moving and always looking for new activities to do. She doesn't like doing things like sitting around and watching TV. So she's been helping me get out and experience all that this place has to offer.

And I'm really grateful. Since I've started hanging out with her, I've made some memories that will definitely last forever and I've seen more of the state than I would've had I not met her. I still enjoy my quiet alone time but now I can officially say that I love going out.

I'm All About This Married Life

Sometimes the fact that I'm married and running my own home still seems very surreal to me. And honestly, I think that is one of the most beautiful things about it.

I was always someone that had plans for everything in life and trust me, there was no steering away from said plans. (I'm a very stubborn person.) But getting married at 20 and living the army life certainly wasn't part of the plan. I always thought marriage was something that I'd do closer to my 30's. But you know what? I don't regret my decision at all, never have and never will. Not even for a second.

Lately I've found myself constantly in awe with the concept of marriage and just how wonderful it is. We wake up to and go to sleep with the same wonderful person every night. We have someone to take care of us when we're sick. We both have a confidante and can always share our deepest fears or concerns with no fear of judgement. Our best friend is literally with us every night, laughing with us, supporting us and learning more about us every day. And at the end of the day, we both have someone that is going through the exact same situations in life as we are and that person understands us on a level that we never could've imagined. The experience is unparalleled, to be going through one of life's toughest yet most amazing journeys with a person that you love and pledged to spend your life with.

Marriage to Kris hasn't been what I thought it was going to be like; it's even better.

Our Puppy

Kris and I adopted Jax 5 days ago. This little guy has changed our lives so much. He is still a puppy, so there is a lot of work involved in taking care of him. He's definitely an investment.

Jax is full of energy and is constantly running and jumping all over the apartment. He wakes Kris and I up at the crack of dawn and doesn't stop moving until he eventually falls asleep. But he is worth every second of it. Just one look into those cute brown eyes of his makes everything worth while. He has definitely made our lives better just by being in it and we love him for it.
